Garlic Fenugreek Kanji(Authentic South Indian recipe)

Kanji is the term used to refer traditional Indian soups/porridge often made with grains/lentils.

Authentic South Indian Garlic Fenugreek Kanji(poondu vendhayam kanji) contains lots of health benefits.
  1. Used as home remedy for mouth/stomach ulcer when combined with coconut milk.
  2. Given to nursing moms to help increase the breast milk.
  3. Helps in digestion.
  4. Given as light food during fever/cold/illness.

Ingredients:
  • Garlic 10 to 12 pods
  • Fenugreek 1 tsp
  • Yellow Moong dhal 2 tsp
  • Brown rice 3tsp (soak in water for 20mts)
  • Salt

Steps:
  1. Add all the ingredients to a vessel. 
  2. Add little salt.
  3. Add water such that the ingredients are soaked.
  4. Cook on low flame on stove top for 40-60mts until all the ingredients are smashed and got a porridge consistency (or) pressure cook for 4-5 whistles.
  5. Garnish with Corriander leaves and pinch of powdered black pepper...

Add coconut milk to use as remedy for ulcer.
